Hydrothermal fabrication of CaZrO3/g-CN electrode material with enhanced electrochemical properties for supercapacitors

Since global energy crisis has brought about major problems, new energy storage technologies need to be developed right away. The current study focuses on the fabrication of CaZrO3/g-CN electrode materials for supercapacitor. Hydrothermally synthesized materials were analyzed by using a series of analytical techniques to evaluate physical and chemical proporties. XRD confirmed crystallinity and purity of CaZrO3/g-CN electrode. SEM analysis confirmed porous morphology. The galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) examination were used to investigate electrochemical properties of fabricated electrode material in 3 M KOH solution. CaZrO3/g-CN nanocomposite exhibited a Cs of 1102.32 F/g at current density (j) of 1 A/g. The corresponding energy density (Ed) and power density (Pd) were calculated to be 28.30 Wh/kg and 215.10 W/kg, respectively. Additionally, after 4000th cycles, the material shows lower charge transfer resistance (Rct) of 0.03 Omega and better cyclic stability compared to pure material. Due to its larger surface area and superior electrical conductivity, graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) produced high Cs, rapid charge discharge, and stability of the active electrode component. Additionally, g-CN's N-enrich structure led to a greater specific surface area and rapid ion transport. These findings showed that next-generation supercapacitors (SCs) can use enhanced CaZrO3/g-CN.
