Particle specifications of oxide materials for biomedical applications

Since the rise of nanotechnology, oxide-based materials have been fascinating scientists with their outstanding chemical and physical properties in every field of science and engineering. Also, in biomedical science, they have been known for their great potential and significant applications which correspond to their diversity in particle specifications. Some basic characteristic features such as size, morphology, optical, and magnetic properties, surface area, surface charge, cytotoxicity, and band gap are crucial for determining the performance and use at their full potential. In this chapter, the need of characteristic features of oxide materials and their huge potential for current biomedical applications is discussed in details. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
