안양시 청소년 월경통 한방진료사업의 치료 효과에 대한 전후 비교 연구

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and satisfaction level of Korean medicine treatment for adolescent dysmenorrhea through a public healthcare project supported by Anyang City in 2024. Methods: A total of 94 female adolescents with dysmenorrhea participated in the public Korean medicine healthcare project. Among them, 83 respondents completed both the baseline and follow-up surveys. The participants received Korean medicine treatments for three months. Pre- and post-treatment changes in menstrual symptoms, dysmenorrhea-related difficulties, and overall quality of life were analyzed using paired t-tests and non-parametric tests. Treatment satisfaction and adverse events were also evaluated. Results: After treatment, the mean Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) score for dysmenorrhea significantly decreased from 6.2±1.6 to 4.1±2.1 (p<0.001), and 74.7% of participants reported symptom improvement. Among those with initially irregular menstrual cycles, 58.8% experienced normalization. Dysmenorrhea-related symptoms such as lower abdominal pain and back pain also showed significant reduction. Furthermore, 75.9% reported improvement in daily life, and 89.3% responded that the program contributed to their health and quality of life. Overall satisfaction with the program reached 85.7%, and 83.3% of participants expressed willingness to participate in similar programs again. No serious adverse events were reported. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that Korean medicine treatment can effectively alleviate menstrual pain and improve quality of life in adolescents with dysmenorrhea. The findings support the feasibility and utility of Korean medicine-based public healthcare programs for adolescent reproductive health and suggest that such initiatives may serve as valuable community-based interventions.
