The reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-supported microwave (MW) synthetic approaches have drawn significant research attention in recent times because of their cost-effectiveness, time-saving approach, and straightforwardness. Specifically, such approaches have been widely implemented for the synthesis of nanocomposites based on graphene and metal oxides. The current article demonstrates such a simple rGO-supported MW approach to synthesize Fe2O3/rGO composite from a Fe-containing porphyrin compound, Hemin. The synthesized composite was thoroughly investigated as a promising negative electrode for advanced supercapacitor (SC) devices. Owing to the porous 3D network structure, the electrode exhibited good specific capacity and improved conductive nature. Furthermore, the fabricated "all-MW synthesized" asymmetric SC device achieved an energy density of 10.5 Wh/kg and cycling stability of similar to 83 % after a 10,000 charge-discharge cycle. Most importantly, compared to the conventional approaches, the reported MW-supported approach of converting Hemin to the corresponding Fe-based oxide is found to be very fast and facile.
