덕겸(德謙)과 관오(觀奧)의 행적과 고려전기 승정(僧政)의 일면
Deokkyum and Gwano, their Activities and Buddhist Administration in the early Goryeo dynasty
초록
This study examines the careers of Deokgyeom and Gwano, two Goryeo- period monks who served as chief priests of Cheonheungsa Temple, to explore the structure and function of Seungjeong (Buddhist administration). Their familial backgrounds, political affiliations, and involvement in temple leadership highlight the close ties between Buddhism and the ruling elite. The analysis also sheds light on key elements of the Goryeo monastic system, including monastic examinations, succession practices, and administrative appointments.
