Developing efficient energy-retaining systems that use nanoscale materials to improve electrochemical efficiency is essential as energy demand increases. Supercapacitors have garnered significant interest as a possible solution for the pressing issues of energy scarcity and environmental contamination. In this work, CeO2/NiO nano-composite was created using a hydrothermal procedure for supercapacitor devices. The CeO2/NiO composite electrode surpassed CeO2 by achieving a specific capacitance (Cs) of 661 F/g at 1 A/g, as computed by electrochemical evaluations. The optimised CeO2/NiO composite material showed cyclic stability even after 3000 cycles. Moreover, an asymmetric two-electrode device was made to further analyse the electrochemical attributes, which demonstrated Cs of 198 F/g, along with an energy density (Ed) of 33.05 Wh/kg and a power density (Pd) of 258 W/kg. The incorporation of NiO enhanced the electrochemical effectiveness by increasing the active sites and conductivity of CeO2/NiO nanocomposite. The findings of the current study show that CeO2 and NiO together improve energy storage efficiency and could be utilised in a variety of energy storage systems.
