Reliability Applications of Polygonal Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Number

초록

This paper demonstrated a novel fuzzy α-cut models of system reliability when the scale parameter of reliability distributions is a polygonal Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Number (IVIFN) under uncertain situation due to insufficient information and unclear judgement. To generate accurate membership function and non-membership function, a shape dependent polygonal IVIFN is determined by various points of fuzzy number which represents the scale parameter of reliability distributions. A polygonal IVIFN includes pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal and octagonal IVIFNs. Interval value for membership function and non-membership function is used for a refined representation of the experts’ opinions involving agreement, disagreement and indeterminant. When finalizing a group decision making for the evaluation of system reliability, the α-cut using polygonal IVIFN is applied for the scale parameter and this assessment can be used to reflect experts’ judgment decisions. The models were presented for computing polygonal interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy system reliability in both series structure and parallel structure. The numerical examples are presented to discuss the validity and the practicality of the proposed models.
