Case Study on Design Adequacy Review and Improvement of Plumbing Systems in Apartment Buildings

초록

This study conducted a design adequacy review of the plumbing system in a single apartment complex based on relevant codes and proposed corresponding improvements. The detailed design drawings were reviewed against the Enforcement Rules of the Sewerage Act and the Mechanical Building Equipment Technical Standards, covering drainage capability, vent stack rationality, trap layout, and rainwater sump pit planning. Four cases were identified and classified as non-conformance with mandatory code provisions (drainage discharge direction misaligned with civil manhole; rainwater sump pit omitted) or non-application of feasible rationalization measures (separate vent stacks within shared PS; trap interference with window line). Improvements based on the relevant codes secured a gravity drainage path, reduced the vent stack quantity by 50%, reduced the trap footprint by 25%, and secured a forced drainage path for rainwater in the Sunken area.
