The Impact of Athlete Sleep Behavior on Athletic Mental Energy in Korean Women's Professional Golf Dream Tour Players

초록

This study aims to analyze the impact of sleep behavior on the mental energy of KLPGA Dream tour players and to identify differences in sleep patterns and environments across groups. [Method] A survey was conducted on 126 players participating in the 16th event of the 2024 KLPGA Dream Tour. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 28.0, including frequency and cross-tabulation analyses to identify demographic characteristics. Exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis were used to verify factor validity, and correlation and multiple regression analyses were applied to examine relationships between variables. [Result] Sleep environment and pre-sleep activities negatively affected motivation and perseverance, with pre-sleep activities also showing a negative impact on vigor, confidence, concentration, and stability. Conversely, sleep disturbances had a positive effect on vigor. Cross-tabulation analysis of prize ranking and sleep duration showed that top-ranked players were most distributed in less than 6-7 hours of sleep, whereas lower-ranked players were most distributed in 8 or more hours of sleep. [Conclusion] Sleep behavior is a critical factor influencing mental energy and performance, emphasizing the need for improved environments and systematic management.
