Nanotechnology plays a significant role in next-generation energy conversion, generation, and storage devices. Conventional energy resources are not enough to fulfill the future requirement of energy. In the last few decades, the worldwide need has been to develop sustainable, high-performance, and durable materials for energy applications. In this chapter, we have focused on the advanced nanostructures for their applications in energy. The section is divided into sub-categories where we have highlighted the various nanostructures such as nanotubes, nanowires, nanofibers, nanosheets, nanotubes, nanoflowers, etc. In particular, the most recently studied advanced nanomaterials and their synthesis technique for specific nanostructures in energy applications are highlighted. Also, the material properties of nanostructures and their key role in related energy applications are discussed. At the end of this chapter, the readers will be able to understand their potential, challenges, and performance limitations as their use in future energy applications. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
