This chapter book investigates the use of biomass waste as a sustainable feedstock for the production of value-added bioproducts such as chemicals and energy materials. It comprehensively reviews the most recent research and advances in this sector, including topics ranging from biomass pretreatment and conversion technologies to bioproduct characterisation and application. The chapter book starts by outlining the global difficulties of waste management and the growing demand for renewable resources. It then provides a detailed study of biomass wastes, including their composition and bioconversion potential. Several pretreatment methods, including physical, chemical, and biological approaches, are investigated, and their effects on biomass structure and reactivity are assessed. This chapter covers several bioproduct conversion technologies, such as thermochemical, biochemical, and electrochemical processes. It thoroughly describes each technology, including its benefits, drawbacks, and possible applications. The characterization and attributes of bioproducts are also covered, emphasising chemical composition, thermal stability, and reactivity. Finally, this chapter looks at bioproducts as chemicals and energy sources. It investigates their utility as feedstocks for producing biofuels, bioplastics, and other value-added products.
