호흡기 질환 빈용 처방 5종의 기관지염 세포 모델에서의 항염 효과 비교

초록

Objectives : Bronchitis is a common condition which can cause coughing and mucus production due to airway inflammation. Since conventional medications for relieving symptoms of bronchitis have pathological limitations, here we suggest several herbal medicines for respiratory diseases which are intended to treat both the underlying pathology and its symptoms, and compared their anti-inflammatory effects. Methods:Bojungikgi-tang (BJGT), Samsoeum (SSE), Socheongryong-tang (SCRT), Insampaedok-san (ISPS), and Hyeonggaeyeongyo-tang (HGYT) are determined considering the frequency of prescription for respiratory diseases. The effects of the herbal medicines were evaluated on the cell viability of A549 human lung adenocarcinoma cell line with or without tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) treatment. Then, RT-qPCR assay was used to assess the relative gene expressions of Interleukin 6 (IL-6) and Interleukin 8 (IL-8) to confirm the anti-inflammatory effects of the herbal medicines. Results : Most of the herbal medicines showed no significant cytotoxicity in TNF-α-treated A549 cells. The relative expressions of IL-6 were significantly decreased in each herbal medicine, especially in SSE, ISPS, and HGYT. For IL-8, the relative expressions were significantly decreased in SCRT, ISPS, and HGYT. Conclusions : Taken together, our results show that 5 herbal medicines possibly exert anti-inflammatory effects by down-regulating the gene expression of cytokines in TNF-α-treated A549 cells. And among 5 herbal medicines, ISPS and HGYT are considered to be highly effective.
