Effect of 12 weeks of balance-walking PT exercise on the health-related physical fitness factors and the cognitive function of middle-aged women

초록

This study aims to determine the effects of a 12-week balance walking PT exercise program on the health-related physical fitness factors and the cognitive function of middle-aged women. The subjects of this study were 50 middle-aged women aged 45 to 54 with no walking difficulties. We divided the selected subjects into an exercise group of 25 people and a control group of 25 using a random assignment method. During the 12-week experiment, two people in the exercise group and 4 in the control group dropped out, leaving 44 people. Measured variables are body weight, relative grip strength per body weight, sit-up, sitting forward bending, Haver's step test, standing on one leg with eyes closed, and BDNF. To test the treatment effect, repeated two-way ANOVA was used, and a Student t-test was used as a post hoc test. The study resulted in significant improvements in muscle strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, cardiorespiratory endurance, balance, and BDNF only in the exercise group. These results demonstrate that 12 weeks of balance walking PT exercise positively affects the health-related physical fitness factors and the cognitive function of middle-aged women.
