도시민의 오버투어리즘 인식과 관광개발지지: 솔라스탤지어의 매개효과

The increase in tourists visiting the city is accelerating due to the shift to free independent travels and the trend of seeking destination’s everyday life. At the same time, urban residents experience a deterioration in their quality of life due to the rapid increase in tourists, and they also show a negative view of the tourism industry and tourists. This study focused on the concept of solarstalgia, namely the lived experience of negatively perceived environmental change, as a keyword to increase support for tourism development among city residents, which is essential in the sustainable development of urban tourism in an era where overtourism is common. Therefore, this study analyzed the structural relationships between urban resident perception of overtourism, solarstalia, and support for tourism development by conducting a survey with Seoul residents. In particular, the mediating effect of solarstalgia was analyzed. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, as urban resident perception of overtourism negatively affects their support for tourism development. Second, as urban resident perception of overtourism increases their solarstalgia significantly increases. Third, the increase in urban resident solarstalgia was found to significantly reduce their support for tourism development. Fourth, the increase in urban resident solarstalgia was found to partially mediate the relationship between their perception of overtourism and support for tourism development. Based on the results of this study, we explored the academic potential of Solastalgier in tourism studies and presented practical implications that can contribute to large cities experiencing overtourism.
