Synergistic Effect of Conducting Polymer PANI on Electrochemical Performance of Ni Ferrites for Asymmetric Supercapacitors

Supercapacitors are vital in energy storage, offering high energy and power density. Ni spinel ferrite (NiFe2O4) and its composites with 5% and 10% polyaniline (PANI) were synthesized via the hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction confirms a cubic structure with crystal sizes of 50-100 nm. Photoluminescence analysis shows higher doping increases radiation absorption, with PANI providing additional charge attachment sites. Specific capacitance improves significantly from 1066.9 F/g (NiFe2O4) to 1646.7 F/g (NiFe2O4@10% PANI). A two-electrode system using activated carbon as the negative and NiFe2O4@10% PANI as the positive electrode exhibits excellent cyclic stability and charge retention, with energy and power densities of 13.5 Wh/kg and 900 W/kg, respectively. These properties position NiFe2O4@PANI composites as promising materials for hybrid supercapacitor electrodes.
