Preparation of Glucosamine-Genipin Compounds and Verification of Their Potential Biological Activities

초록

This study provides academic insights by synthesizing new compounds through structural transformation using a crosslinker, as the antibacterial activity of glucosamine (GlcN) alone is not significant, and by elucidating their biological properties. Glucosamine derivatives (GNP-GlcN) were synthesized using genipin (GNP) as a crosslinker. The optimal reaction conditions were confirmed to be GNP (5 mM) and GlcN (10 mM) in a 1:2 ratio (v/v) at pH 7.0. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC 50 ) of the GNP-GlcN mixture against MRSA and E. coli was determined to be 0.375~1.5 mg/mL. The antibacterial (bactericidal) activity of the GlcN-GNP complex was evaluated to be very effective against MRSA and E. coli, re-spectively. These results suggest that the GNP-GlcN complex can be utilized in a diverse range of materials due to its potential antibacterial activity in treating infectious diseases.
