초록
This study aims to define the concept of “Ger TIG,” the traditional geometric and proportional principle embedded in the design of the Mongolian ger, and to analyze its structural, cultural, and symbolic meanings. Through historical document analysis, field surveys, and comparative case studies, the research examines the transformations and continuities of the ger from the 17th century to the present. Particular attention is given to how “Ger TIG” has functioned not merely as a drafting method but as a cultural code. The findings reveal that the ger is not simply a portable dwelling adapted to nomadic life but a spatial system that reflects social hierarchy, family structure, and cultural identity. “Ger TIG” operates as a geometric framework that determines the dimensions of key structural components—such as the toono (crown opening), khana (wall section), uni (rafters), bagana (columns), and door—while simultaneously serving as a device that expresses Mongolian cultural characteristics and Buddhist symbolism. In conclusion, “Ger TIG” functions as a vital design language mediating tradition and modernity, thereby deepening the understanding of Mongolian traditional architecture. This study demonstrates how cultural values and architectural design principles are interrelated and suggests directions for future research, including comparative studies with other nomadic cultures and the digital reconstruction of traditional spatial systems.
