초록

Salmonella enterica serotype Enteritidis (SE) is the leading cause of foodborne outbreaks in Korea, yet genomic profiles of pathogenic Sequence Type (ST) 11 SE strains from poultry slaughterhouses remain limited. We report the ST11 SE strain’s HC-2sh complete genome from a Korean poultry slaughterhouse, showing antimicrobial resistance genes (aac (6’)-Iaa-bla<inf>TEM1b</inf>-dfrA1), matching previous SE isolates from Korean retail chicken meat, and a unique virulence gene profile (sef-pef-fim-sop-inv-org-sip-spa-sif-hil-spr-ssa-sse-prgpil-spv), which differs from the patterns previously reported for various SE isolates in Korea. These results provide insights into ST11 SE, which is prevalent in Korean poultry facilities, and enhance understanding of salmonellosis in the food industry. © 2025 The Korean Society for Mocrobiology / The Korean Society of Virology.
