Outstanding-performance electroactive and electro-bio catalyst AgZnO@WS2/Au-substrate nanostructure for ultra-sensitive food safety biosensing and hybrid supercapacitor applications

An efficient strategy to enhance the electro-biocatalyst characteristics of multifunctional devices is to improve the electrochemical performance of both the anode and cathode materials. In this work, we report the synthesis of an innovative AgZnO@WS2 hybrid material via a combined hydrothermal and tip-sonication approach. The addition of gold as a substrate and WS2 to AgZnO improved its electrochemical performance and improved the specific capacity (Qs) to 1403.50C g-1. A hybrid device was subsequently fabricated by coupling the AgZ-nO@WS2 nanocomposite as the cathode with PANI@activated carbon (AC) as the anode, demonstrating its suitability for hybrid supercapacitor applications. The assembled device exhibited a remarkable specific capacity of 269.35C g-1, achieving a high power density of 4848 W kg-1 and an energy density of 36.80 Wh kg-1, along with a capacity retention of 96.3% after 10,000 cycles. Furthermore, owing to the enhanced redox activity of the AgZnO@WS2/Au-substrate electro-biocatalyst, the material was also employed as a highly sensitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor for gliadin detection. The ECL biosensor exhibited a sensitivity of 950 mu A & sdot;cm-2 & sdot;mu M-1 and a low detection limit of 0.25 mu M, demonstrating good analytical performance. This versatile nature of nanocomposites holds promise as an energy storage and biosensing technology of the future.
