초록

Polymer-coated metal oxide nanoparticles (MO-NPs) offer potential toxicity and interaction with biological systems. Chitosan (CS) and Polyethylene glycol (PEG) coating agents could improve sensitivity, control the size, morphology, monodispersity and biocompatibility of MO-NPs. Current study about the synthesis of pristine and polymer functionalized cerium oxide NPs (Ce-NPs) via co-precipitation method. The crystal structure, morphology, functional groups and magnetic behaviour of functionalized Ce-NPs was identified by various techniques such as x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis. After material study the agar dilution method was performed to investigate antimicrobial activities against E.coli and Fusarium b. The PEG coated CeNPs shows good microbial agent against E.coli (10, 11, 12 mm) and Fusarium b (10, 11.5, 12 mm). After that, MTT assay was performed to investigate anticancer activity and observed that PEG functionalized Ce-NPs provided significant anticancer agent against MCF-7 (41.1 +/- 1.18, 36.2 +/- 1.04 and 33.1 +/- 0.95) cell line. The overall analyses shows that PEG functionalized Ce-NPs are suitable for biomedical applications; in future these functionalized NPs will be used for in-vivo to treat the infected rats via hyperthermia therapy.
