초록

Objectives : Despite growing interest in medical ethics education, there is a lack of educational content that is specific to East Asian Medicine. As a first step to remedy this issue, this paper examines the qualities of a good doctor as written in the medical classics. Methods : Relevent contents in the Huangdineijing were collected and their meanings examined. Results : In the Huangdineijing, medical ethics related contents were primarily focused on discussions of qualities of a good doctor. Accompanying these discussions were thoughts on medical education and the relationship between patient and doctor, among many other key perspectives of East Asian Medicine since antiquity. Conclusions : Building on findings from the Huangdineijing, further research is necessary to establish a medical ethics of East Asian Medicine that reflect and could be applied to clinical and educational settings of contemporary East Asian Medicine.
