초록

Staphylococcus aureus is a clinically important pathogen with increasing antibiotic resistance. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of the bacteriophage vB_SauM-HM01, a linear dsDNA (138,868 bp; 29.8% G + C) encoding 196 proteins without tRNA, lysogeny, virulence, or antibiotic resistance genes. Phylogenetic and comparative genome analyses classified it as a member of the genus Silviavirus (subfamily Twortvirinae), closely related to phage Stau2. Mosaic regions near homing endonuclease genes suggest recombination events contributing to genetic diversity. These genomic features, together with specific broad host range against S. aureus, support its potential as a safe and effective biocontrol agent and improve our understanding of phage diversity and classification. © 2025 The Korean Society for Mocrobiology / The Korean Society of Virology.
