초록
The purpose of this study was to examine the dimensional structure and item functioning of the Career Anxiety Scale for adolescent Taekwondo athletes using item response theory, specifically the graded response model. The participants were 249 adolescent Taekwondo athletes registered with the Korea Taekwondo Association. The analysis used the final 26-item structure derived from a previous study that applied Cho’s career anxiety scale to a Taekwondo athlete sample. The dimensionality analysis showed that the scale was better represented by a three-factor structure consisting of anxiety state, situational triggers, and causal factors rather than a unidimensional structure. Subsequently, the graded response model was applied to each subscale. The anxiety state subscale showed relatively stable measurement properties, although several items displayed comparatively low discrimination and item misfit. The situational triggers subscale showed the largest number of misfitting items, indicating the greatest need for refinement. The causal factors subscale, despite its limited number of items, included several items that provided relatively high information. These findings suggest that the Career Anxiety Scale for adolescent Taekwondo athletes has an overall usable structure, but meaningful differences exist in measurement precision and stability across subscales. Accordingly, the scale should be interpreted not only in terms of total scores but also with consideration of subscale characteristics and item functioning. Further studies are needed to refine problematic items and to develop a more sport-specific measure for Taekwondo athletes.
