The Relationship Between Self-Compassion and Resilience in Taekwondo Athletes: Focusing on Group Comparisons by Gender and Academic Level

초록

Purpose This study examined the effect of self-compassion on resilience in Taekwondo athletes and tested whether this relationship differed by gender and academic level. Method Data from 513 high school and university Taekwondo athletes were analyzed. Self-compassion and resilience scales were used, and descriptive statistics, structural equation modeling, measurement invariance testing, and multi-group analysis were conducted using SPSS 30.0 and AMOS 30.0. Results Self-compassion had a significant positive effect on resilience. Measurement invariance was confirmed at an acceptable level across both gender and academic level groups. In addition, the path from self-compassion to resilience was significant in all groups. However, the differences in path coefficients according to gender and academic level were not statistically significant. Conclusion Self-compassion may serve as an important psychological factor in explaining resilience among Taekwondo athletes. This relationship did not differ significantly by gender or academic level.
